Jamie A. Hulley Fund for the Arts

Visiting Artists Program

Throughout her school years, Jamie benefited tremendously from being exposed to talented artists of all genres. The visiting artists program offers small grants to schools to bring in professionals in the visual and performing arts to share their expertise with the students in a meaningful way. At the present time, Jamie’s Art Fund sponsors a visiting artist program at Amity Senior High School. The grants program will be expanded to include more schools as Jamie’s Fund grows.

In 2004-2005, the grant to Amity High School’s Art Department included workshops by Jeff Gordon, a landscape architect; Rob Greenberg, illustrator & painter; Val Kropiwnicki, metal sculptor & furniture designer, and Ron Sloan, painter. Each artist spent the day with Amity students presenting their work, sharing their artistic expertise, and giving practical career advice. The goal was to move the students’ experience beyond the confines of the classroom into the world of the professional artist and to broaden the students’ perspective as to what they could do with their own talent in the future.
